Experiencing history: UToledo experts provide key insight in election year

In a presidential election with far-ranging impacts that include addressing a public health pandemic, curbing an economic recession and the consequences of filling an open seat on the U.S. Supreme Court within days of the election, The University of Toledo is uniquely situated in a key battleground state with expert faculty who are navigating the political chaos.

No Republican candidate has ever won the presidency without winning Ohio. The last Democratic president who didn’t win in Ohio was John F. Kennedy in 1960. On UToledo’s campus, political science students Leticia Skrabut and Kyra Valentine are encouraging young people to participate in the political process and have their voices heard through a partnership with the Campus Vote Project.

Faculty experts in political science, law and other fields are also leveraging their academic expertise to advance our understanding of the 2020 presidential election and our current political climate.
