Cardinal Stritch University, Staff report:
"Cardinal Stritch University is one of over 231 campuses in 37 states and the District of Columbia and one of just 11 Wisconsin colleges/universities designated a Voter Friendly Campus. The initiative, led by national nonpartisan organizations Fair Elections Center’s Campus Vote Project (CVP) and NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, held participating institutions accountable for planning and implementing practices that encourage their students to register and vote in 2020 elections and in the coming years.
The mission of the Voter Friendly Campus designation is to bolster efforts that help students overcome barriers to participating in the political process. Stritch was evaluated based on a campus plan about how student voters were registered, educated and turned out in 2020; how voter engagement efforts on our campus were facilitated; and a final analysis of our comprehensive efforts - all in the face of the upheaval caused by a global pandemic. The designation is valid through December 2022.
"This designation is the result of our participation in the Campus Vote Project and recognizes efforts to break down barriers and empower students with the information and tools that open the door to lifelong civic engagement," said Stritch Interim President Dr. Dan Scholz. "Thank you to Matt Weiss, Senior Coordinator of Student Activities & Leadership; Andy Reza, Multicultural Program Coordinator; Glo Konieczny, Residence Life Coordinator; and students Angela Elias, Sean Hanzel and Meryl Steele for their outstanding work and well-deserved acknowledgement."
